Our elementary school, Johan Heinrinch Pestalozzi, is located in the heart & centre of Skopje, with ~900 students.

The teachers can vary with strictness, with some being relaxed while some asking for bigger goals.

We also have uniforms, like every other school in the Centar municipality of Skopje.

My favourite subjects are English, German, Informatics/Computer Science, Macedonian & more!

We start school at 8:00 in the morning, while the finishing time depends on the day. We have six periods on Monday (12:40), seven periods on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (1:20), and five periods on Friday (12:00).

After school, I come home and relax a bit and play video games, have lunch, then do my homework. Pestalozzi really is an amazing school, with amazing teachers as well!

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

After the catastrophic earthquake that destroyed nearly 80% of Skopje in 1963, national aid started arriving. Families were being rescued from the rubble, and it was truly devastating.

One of the international gifts, by the Swiss government, was the elementary school Johann Heinrinch Pestalozzi.

Before Pestalozzi, the Petar Petrović Njegoš stood in the school's current location.

In 1967, construction of the school began, designed by the Swiss modular architect Alfred Roth.

Over the course of two years, the school was being built using modular pieces and walls.

On January 12, 1969, Pestalozzi's birthday, the school was finally opened.

The school has approximately 900 students, from first to ninth grade.

Nowadays, Pestalozzi is one of the most famous, if not the most famous Macedonian elementary school.

ART & CULTURE

Pestalozzi has its own mandolin orchestra, with beautiful comopositions and skill.

There are also bazaars, field trips, & more events!

BIOGRAPHY OF PESTALOZZI

Johann Heinrinch Pestalozzi was a major pedagogue and educational reformer. He was born on 12 January, 1746 in Zürich, a city in Switzerland.
